Q I write to you from Nassau, in the Bahamas. I run a small FM and maintenance firm and wish to investigate educational opportunities for my staff. I’d be thrilled to find distance learning courses via the Web or short term courses nearby.

A I applaud you for recognizing the need for staff training and taking the steps to locate something suitable. You have several options, depending on budget constraints, travel costs, course/training duration, etc. You may consider self-study programs that would allow members of your staff to learn at their own pace. BOMI Institute (www.bomi-edu.org) has excellent programs available in several methods, including classroom study, corporate classes (where an instructor will come to your facility and teach any or all of the Institute’s courses on site), self study, and accelerated review.
