![]() Tricks Of The Trade: The Power Of Energy DataTFM Columnist Jim Elledge extols the virtues of energy data.
By James C. Elledge, IFMA Fellow, CFM, FMA, RPA, RIAQM Q What research exists on how facilities teams manage energy on an ongoing basis and what types of data they are collecting? A With LEED becoming the standard for green initiatives in buildings, the tendency to use program standards and guidelines is more the norm. For example, Energy Star maps out guidelines for commercial buildings and offers its Portfolio Manager to track usage. These guidelines provide recommendations on what areas to consider for metering or sub-metering. Great resources are available from the USGBC too. Elledge, facility/office services manager for Dallas, TX-based Summit Alliance Companies, is the recipient of the Distinguished Author Award from the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), is an IFMA Fellow, and is a member of TFM’s Editorial Advisory Board.
