NEW EFFECTS™ CEILING FROM ARMSTRONG OFFERS LOOK OF REAL WOOD AT MORE AFFORDABLE COST

New finishing technology embeds realistic wood-look image onto surface of standard metal ceiling panels

Effects™, a unique, new metal ceiling from Armstrong, offers architects, interior designers and building owners the opportunity to provide the rich, warm, upscale look of real wood at a cost much more affordable than real wood.

This cost-effective new addition to the Armstrong family of wood-look ceilings features a realistic image of wood that is embedded onto a standard metal panel, eliminating problems associated with delamination. It is the first ceiling of its kind in the industry.

The wood-look, powder-coated finish is created by an innovative process called FX Technology. Because nothing is actually laminated to the panel, there is no risk of delamination. The technology also produces a consistent color tone and grain consistency, thereby greatly reducing the visual variations that can occur in real wood panels.

Effects panels have a Class A Flame Spread Rating, and are not affected by high humidity conditions. They are also lighter, more durable and easier to maintain than real wood ceilings.

Panels Can Provide Acoustics Plus Aesthetics

Available in cherry and maple finishes, the 2’x 2’ metal panels are offered with either a square tegular or a patented Armstrong Vector™ edge detail. The Vector edge produces a sleek, ¼-inch reveal that minimizes the visible grid, creating a ceiling visual that is more monolithic in appearance than a standard suspended ceiling.

In terms of acoustical performance, Effects ceilings are available in Unperforated or Extra Microperforated panels. Extra Microperforations measure only seven-tenths of a millimeter in diameter, which makes them practically invisible. Yet, they allow the panels to achieve a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of 0.65. Real wood panels, with larger perforations and a fiberglass infill panel, can only achieve an NRC of 0.40.

Ideal for Use in High Visibility Areas

The upscale visual of Effects ceilings make them ideal for use in high visibility areas such as lobbies, entryways, conference rooms and a wide variety of corporate, healthcare, higher education, retail, hospitality and transportation environments. In addition to standard panels, a custom capability is also available.

The new panels install easily in standard T-bar suspension systems. However, compared to real wood panels, no time is needed for Effects panels to acclimate to the temperature and humidity conditions of the installation environment.
