The low to moderate levels of compliance with health and safety regulations have hindered the growth of the fall protection market in North America. However, with regulatory bodies cracking down on non-compliant companies, the market for fall protection gear is set to accelerate and reach $670.5 million in 2017 at a compound annual growth rate of 5.7%.
A new report by the National Institute of Building Sciences Consultative Council highlights four areas where the industry and the nation need to focus their efforts in order to improve buildings and infrastructure.
A third of the population in the U.S., or roughly 120 million people, lives within a 50 mile radius of a nuclear reactor. Current emergency planning rules require utilities to develop and exercise emergency evacuation plans within a 10 mile radius around reactors.
The published rule will help keep OSHA standards up-to-date and better enable employers to comply with their regulatory obligations.
