In a style reminiscent of the 1927 film, “Metropolis,” combined with the comic book look of The Adventures of Tintin, the talents of another Belgian comic artist, François Schuiten take make believe urban landscapes to new heights.
Back in 1985, Terry Gilliam directed an offbeat film entitled, “Brazil.” Very dark, the film presents both a futurist and retro (“steampunk”) interpretation of the absurdity of administrative bureaucracy—one that still holds true today in many ways.
